What does a storm structure do?
It intercepts surface water and moves it to a designated discharge point instead of letting it saturate the ground. Without that, water pools against foundations, soaks the base under driveways, and starts cutting erosion channels.
Why not just regrade instead?
Grading sets the direction water travels, but once there is enough volume or it is arriving concentrated in one place, it needs somewhere to actually go. A storm structure carries that water away rather than simply pointing it somewhere else on the property.
Will it stop my driveway washing out?
Washouts happen when water runs across the surface fast enough to erode the base underneath. Directing that water away from the driveway before it gets there is what prevents the ruts from coming back after every storm.
Do storm structures require a permit?
